The Manatee Community Foundation recognized exemplary leaders in the community for their efforts during an annual luncheon.
Bob and Carol Carter were honored with the Mary E. Parker Lifetime Spirit Award for their years of service and donations in the community.
The Lakewood Ranch Women’s Club, receiving the Community Spirit Award, was honored for raising more than $500,000 for local nonprofits.
Conrad and Ruth Ann Szymanski, who established Manatee County’s first community partnership school at Manatee Elementary School, received the Leadership Spirit Award.
Tom Waters, CEO of Easterseals of Southwest Florida, was honored for mentoring other nonprofit organizations and was awarded the Charles Clapsaddle Community Spotlight Award.
Brooklynn Deckman, a student at the Rowlett Academies for Arts and Communication, received the Young Spirit Award for her efforts to spread bullying awareness and her volunteer work for hurricane relief.
