Meghan Agosta of Team Canada hockey joins Vancouver police

Ruthven's gold medal winning Team Canada Olympic hockey star Meghan Agosta has been hired as a member of the Vancouver Police Department.

She announced the career move on Twitter.

"I would like 2 announce that I will be embarking on a new journey & joining a new team in Sept with the @VancouverPD," she tweeted.

Many people congratulated Agosta on Twitter, wishing her luck in her new job.

Agosta has been a member of Canada’s National Women’s Team since 2004.

She has played in three Olympic Winter Games, winning gold at Turin 2006, Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014.

She was the only Canadian named to the Media All-Star Team in Sochi, where she recorded three goals and one assist.

Two of those goals came on her birthday in the preliminary round game against the rival United States.

With nine goals and six assists, she was the top scorer at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games and was voted Most Valuable Player and Best Forward as well as being named to the Media All-Star Team.
