Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are honoring their host country of Nigeria with their style.

After visiting a school in the country's capital of Abuja on Friday, May 10, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex continued their busy first day in Nigeria with a visit to the Chief of Defense staff headquarters.

Between the two outings, the couple made a quick outfit change, swapping their looks from earlier in the day for outfits that mirror the colors of the Nigerian flag: white and green. Meghan wore a white pantsuit from Altuzarra, while Harry sported a teal green suit.

Members of the royal family often pay homage to the countries they are visiting by dressing in national colors.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were formally welcomed by Nigeria's Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa OFR, who invited the couple to visit the country.

The stop was the second on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's first day in Nigeria, which kicked off in Abuja with a visit to the Lightway Academy with the GEANCO Foundation, which provides critical health care and education services across the country. There, the couple delivered inspiring welcome remarks at the inaugural mental health summit, and urged the young people to stay in sync with their mental health.

"We are honored to have our first visit to Nigeria be here with all of you. We believe in you, we believe in your teachers and we believe in your ability to continue to tell your stories and to just be honest with each other," Meghan said in part. "There is no need to suffer in silence."

The expansion of the charitable partnership between GEANCO and the Duke and Duchess' Archewell Foundation was also announced at Lightway Academy, where the Duchess of Sussex further revealed what their kids, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 2, are into lately!

Meghan mentioned that "singing and dancing" was her daughter's "favorite class," probably because of "all the jumping around," and that her son liked construction, as kids showed off their robotic projects in a STEM class.

During the next three days, Prince Harry, 39, and Meghan, 42, will engage with service members connected to the Invictus Games, an international adaptive sport competition for wounded servicemen, women, and veterans that Prince Harry founded in 2014. They will also participate in cultural activities and charity visits.

On Friday morning, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were pictured arriving at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

In a statement, Brig Gen Tukur Vusau, Acting Director of Defence Information in Nigeria, said of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's trip: “The visit is to consolidate Nigeria's strong hold at the game and the possibility of hosting the event in later years."

Meghan discovered she is 43% Nigerian after taking a genealogy test years ago, which Harry touched upon in his opening speech at last year's Invictus Games.

"Now, I'm not saying we play favorites in our home, but since my wife discovered she's of Nigerian descent, it's likely to get a little bit more competitive this year," the Duke of Sussex joked during the September 2023 ceremony in Düsseldorf, Germany.
