Michael Easton is leaving “General Hospital” — here’s when his last episode airs

The actor behind Dr. Hamilton Finn is departing the soap opera sooner than you’d expect.

General Hospital is losing one of its top doctors.

Michael Easton, who plays Dr. Hamilton Finn on the ABC soap opera, announced his departure from the show on Instagram Wednesday. “I’ve always been partial to the Irish goodbye,” Easton said in a video. “That’s where you leave the party without actually telling anyone you’re gone. But I thought you all deserve better. So I just want to let you know, I just filmed my final scenes here at General Hospital."

When will viewers get their final glimpse of Michael Easton on the show? Entertainment Weekly can confirm that the actor’s final episode as Dr. Finn will air Thursday, June 27.

In his post, Easton expressed his gratitude toward his collaborators and fans. “I’ve loved every minute that I’ve been here,” he said. “I want to thank the entire cast and crew for allowing me to share their stage, this past 10 years. Most importantly, I want to thank all of you for the kindness and love you’ve shown me and my family. I won’t ever forget you.”

The actor paraphrased what a baseball legend said as he took his final steps off the set. “As I walk out of here for the last time, and with apologies to the great Lou Gehrig, I feel like the luckiest man on the face of the Earth,” he said. “Thank you for your kindness. My heart is filled with love and gratitude,” he wrote in his Instagram caption.

Easton first joined General Hospital, reprising his character Detective John McBain from One Life to Live in 2012. He also brought his Port Charles character Caleb Morley to the soap in 2013, then played that character’s brother, Dr. Silas Clay, from 2013 to 2015. He returned to the show as a new character, Dr. Hamilton Finn, in March 2016, and has stuck with that character until this week, eight years later.
