Mischa Barton lashes out amid report she’s 'too boring' for 'The Hills,' won't be back for Season 2

Mischa Barton is not boring, but she’ll tell you who is.

The actress, 34, will reportedly not return to Season 2 of The Hills: New Beginnings — and some outlets say it is because producers found her to be “too boring,” so she’ll be replaced by someone with “more spunk.” Caroline D'Amore, a DJ and pizza heiress who used to hang out with Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian when Kardashian moonlighted as a closet cleaner, is being considered as the more exciting replacement.

Barton was not thrilled to be branded boring, however. On Wednesday, she shared a screenshot of an Us Weekly article stating that she is out and D'Amore and slammed the publication and D'Amore. After questioning the outlet’s reporting, she wrote, “As if anyone would watch @carolinedamore try to hoc her boring ass pasta bowls and greasy pizza on tv. Tried that it was like watching paint dry.”

In addition to tagging the celebrity outlet, which she directed to “get the story straight,” she tagged D'Amore, who was more than eager to reply — as well as plug her brand.

Along with a photo of herself in undies with a box showing the name of her brand Pizza Girl covering her top, D'Amore wrote, “The Hills are alive with the taste of @pizzagirlofficial” and said the brand experienced a “sudden surge in sales this morning,” amid the casting rumors and Barton’s reaction to them.

D’Amore went on to write to Barton, “REAL women don’t bully other women” along with hashtags “selling out” and “not stooping to your level.”

A rep for The Hills reboot has not yet responded to Yahoo’s request for comment about who is officially in and who is out in Season 2.

Barton's initial casting on the show was questioned long before her first appearance because she’s an actress and not a reality TV star. During the first season, she wasn’t prominently featured — leaving the main storyline to OGs Audrina Patridge, Brody Jenner, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt — and faced criticism from her co-stars over it. Montag called it “frustrating” to have the rest of the cast “put our whole lives into this show before and after” to then have Barton come on and “be so reserved.” However, she allowed that it was Barton’s personality, saying, “she’s just a little more closed.”

As for D'Amore’s resume, she runs the D’Amores Pizza Connection, a company founded by her parents as well as the Pizza Girl tomato sauce line. She’s also been a model, a DJ, releasing her own single “Music Man” and the host of the web series DJ Diaries with Caroline D’Amore. She’s appeared on Keeping Up With the Kardashians and Kourtney & Khloé Take Miami, as well as the 2009 film Sorority Row with Patridge.

Before their social media spat, Barton and D'Amore were friends. There are a bunch of photos of them hanging out in 2018 — including one of them at a fashion show hosted by Patridge. That same year, she referred to the pizza princess as “my girl.” And D'Amore was front and center at Barton’s birthday party in 2019, so it’s unclear exactly when it when from friends to “boring ass pasta bowls and greasy pizza” name-calling.

According to TMZ, while Barton is out and D’Amore is in, the rest of the cast will be the same. Jenner will be pulling in bigger paychecks this season as his personal life has been making headlines, including splitting with Kaitlynn Carter, who’s also on the show, only to remain friendly following her high-profile yet brief rebound with Miley Cyrus.
