Molotov cocktail hurled at west-end storefront

Police are investigating after a Molotov cocktail was hurled at a storefront in the city's west end early Wednesday.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene in the Eglinton Avenue West and Bicknell Avenue area around 1:30 a.m. ET.

It appears the assailant may have tried multiple times to throw the wine bottled filled with a flammable liquid into the store, though the bottle did not break.

There are apartments above the store, and residents were forced to briefly leave their homes. No injuries were reported.

Police officers and canine units attempted to track a possible suspect but nobody was found.

The Ontario Fire Marshal has been notified.
