Montreal SPCA investigates after dead dog found in garbage bag
The Montreal SPCA says it is investigating a case of suspected animal cruelty after a dog was found dead in a wooded area in Laval.
"The dog, named Abby by Montreal SPCA staff, was found covered by a black garbage bag," said a statement issued Thursday on the animal-rights agency's Facebook page.
The dog was found in the western part of Laval, between 12th and 14th streets, on Monday afternoon.
"Abby was a medium-sized white bull terrier of approximately five years. She had a very visible black mass on the right side of her abdomen."
The Montreal SPCA has opened a criminal investigation and is asking for the public's help to identify the dog and its previous owners.
