Moose caught playing with wind chimes

A new online video proves we humans aren’t the only ones who enjoy the fine art of making music. Moose like jamming, too.

On the evening of May 4th, Alaska resident Britta Schroder was in her home near Denali National Park and Reserve when she heard her wind chimes ringing, reports the Associated Press. This struck her as odd because it wasn’t windy, so she went to the window to take a look.

There, gently rubbing its head back and forth against the metal chimes was an enormous moose. The animal continued to play the chimes with its snout for a good 30 seconds before ambling off.

According to the CBC, Schroder opened her screen door wide enough to shoot the video, but was careful to keep her dog inside. She thinks the moose stopped playing because it had snapped the wooden base of the chimes in half.

This isn’t the first time a moose has exhibited playful human-like behaviour. Back in 2008, another Alaska resident caught a baby moose on video as it frolicked in a sprinkler. In another video, a moose can be seen happily rolling a ball around someone’s backyard with its antlers. Good times!

And while it may be true that wind chime moose is no piano cat, you’ve got admit one thing — that moose has an ear.
