Mount Pleasant artisans display their talents on May 25

Quilts, stained glass, bird houses and honey are just some of the wares that more than 20 local artists will have for sale at the On Track Artisan Tour on May 25 in Mount Pleasant.

Between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., artisans will welcome visitors across six locations in Mount Pleasant, with a forging demonstration by Dawson Rogers of Wild Territory Blades also on the program.

The $10 admission will help to restore the historic Mount Pleasant railway station.

Built in 1916, it is the only original Lake Erie and Northern Railway station remaining from that era, according to tour organizer Linda Guest.

Guest said the style — based on a Canadian Pacific Railway No. 14 station design — is rare to this part of the country.

“It’s definitely worth saving,” she said.

The Brant Railway Heritage Society hopes to open it as a museum in the next few years.

Tickets to the artisan tour are available through eventbrite.ca and at 669 Mount Pleasant Rd. during the event. Children 12 and under are free.

Admission includes a chance to win prizes from local sponsors — including Devlin’s Country Bistro and Fescue’s Edge Golf Club — as well as opportunities to win art by the vendors.
