Move your car from the Inuvik, N.W.T. airport or have it towed, manager says
Cars that have been parked at the Inuvik, N.W.T., airport for over three months will be towed at their owners expense starting April 30.
In an email, a spokesperson for the Department of Infrastructure said around 10 vehicles have been at the airport for over three months — four of which have been there for over a year.
The territorial government issued a news release stating that the airport manager has the authority to have the vehicles towed, as they are considered abandoned after three months.
The release said the abandoned vehicles are interfering with maintenance activities.
In a followup email, the spokesperson said these include snow clearing in the winter months, and cleaning and painting the asphalt during summer months.
"Abandoned vehicles also take stalls away from the travelling public requiring parking."
Starting May 1, drivers will need to make arrangements with the airport manager to leave their vehicle at the airport for longer than one month.
