MS Coast teen accused of attempted murder after ramming car & shooting driver, police say

Jaden Bryant Maples, a 16 year old from Moss Point, was charged Friday as an adult with attempted murder and making terrorist threats.

According to Jackson County Sheriff John Ledbetter, Maples called the Waffle House on Highway 63 on May 22 and threatened to shoot the customers and employees inside. A Moss Point man who was inside the restaurant then left, driving away from the Waffle House. According to Ledbetter, Maples repeatedly rammed the vehicle of the man. When the victim’s car wrecked, the victim got out and started running away. Maples shot at him several times, Ledbetter said.

Maples was arrested Thursday after a search warrant was served at his house. Investigators found several firearms and ammunition in his bedroom. County Court Judge Mark Watts denied Maples bond during a court hearing Friday.
