Music exec Simon Cowell seeks to replicate One Dimension success with new London billboards
Music executive Simon Cowell appears to be searching for the next One Direction.
The “America’s Got Talent” judge who famously put together the boy band that turned Harry Styles and Zayn Malik into household names posted billboards throughout London advertising “future megastars wanted for new boyband” Tuesday, according to TMZ.
Cowell posted a video on Instagram telling aspiring pop stars, “This is the moment to change your life.”
The 64-year-old London native said the music industry tends to look for solo artists, so bands need to be put together by someone, TMZ reported.
“Nothing beats the fun of being in a group,” Cowell opined. “Touring the world and performing for thousands.”
Casting for his latest endeavor gets underway July 4 in Newcastle, England, with other auditions planned across Great Britain.
The fine print on Cowell’s billboards reads “No timewasters.”
