Take That - Windows

Take That sent fans into a frenzy with their newly announced UK-wide tour, and as part of the news rollout, the band also revealed a new album, This Life, due November 24. In anticipation for the project, the group release a guitar-led synth-rock anthem, with the trio’s signature harmonies perfectly in sync.

Talk Show – Closer

London-based quartet Talk Show edge “closer and closer” to their debut album, due next year, with their latest release, a high-energy post-punk banger, oozing groove with funky bass breaks, ferocious drums, and electronic riffs. The track has an almost instantaneous Gorrilaz vibe to it, which is no surprise, as it was produced by the group’s drummer and producer Remi Kabaka Jr.

Duran Duran - Black Moonlight

Eighties favourites Duran Duran are feeling spooky and groovy in their second track from their Halloween-themed album, coming October 27. With danceable basslines and ghostly sound effects, the band are staying committed to their October 31 inspiration.

Nines – Daily Duppy

Nines may only have dropped his Crop Circle 2 album earlier this year, but the critically acclaimed rapper shows no signs of slowing down, gearing up for his Crop Circle 3 follow up, out October 6. Nines’ first taster Is a self-love anthem, with a slow R&B inspired instrumental, that allows his clever one-liners take centre stage.

DYLAN - Rebel Child

DYLAN bears her inner rebel in her latest high-octane pop-rock track, building up to her highly anticipated debut album, due next year. To the sound of thumping drumbeats and searing guitars, DYLAN professes: “I was born a rebel child”, against a raging instrumental that will keep your head bopping.

Troye Sivan - Got Me Stated

Troye Sivan releases his second single from upcoming album, Something To Give Each Other, out October 13. The UK-garage inspired anthem samples Bag Raiders 2009 internet hit Shooting Stars, though Sivan switches the samples meme status and transforms its recognisable sound into a club-ready synth-pop groover.

NewDad – Angel

Irish indie band NewDad drop their grunge-infused track, inspired by characters Rue and Jules, from hit HBO show Euphoria, as the bands singer/guitarist Julie Dawson resonated with their relationship. The song features a hypnotic bassline and a nostalgic sound that draws a nod ti the bands inspirations, which includes the Pixies.

Shay Lia – ON THE LOW

French-born singer Shay Lia continues her form of stellar collaborations with Grammy-winning producer KAYTRANDA, with the Canada-based artists coming together for a groovy, funk-infused sensual anthem, with Shay Lia’s soulful voice smoothly coming together with KAYTRANDA’s signature production, laced with nostalgic electronic synths and heavy basslines.

Declan McKenna – Nothing Works

Enfield-born indie rocker Declan McKenna marks the announcement of his third studio album, What Happened to the Beach?, with his second single of the year. The self-reflective track is an upbeat alt-rock anthem, driven by a repetitive drumbeat, with a high-tempo switch up wedged in the latter end of the song, featuring a searing guitar solo.

Sugababes – When The Rain Comes

The Sugababes have marked their highly anticipated comeback with their first single release in 10 years, following a string of performances through the year. The soulful upbeat R&B number is packed with horns and harmonies, as the girls voices mesh perfectly through the track.

D Double E & TenBillion Dreams – Ghetto Love Story

Legendary London rapper D Double E takes to the mic for his second lead release of the year, with a unique take on a love song, with serenading lyrics, delivered on a heavy trap beat produced by TenBillion Dreams, which packs a punch with heavy basslines and quirky one-liners.

Purple Disco Machine x Duke Dumont x Nothing But Thieves – Something On My Mind

German DJ and producer Purple Disco Machine teams up with UK chart-topper Duke Dumont and Essex indie rockers Nothing But Thieves in an unexpected collaboration, releasing a funky radio-friendly dance track that sees the band’s lead singer, Conor Mason, take centre stage with his impressive vocal range, over the upbeat, disco-infused instrumental.

The Rolling Stones – Angry

The Rolling Stones broke the internet with the announcement of their first album since 2005. Hackney Dreams, out October 20, will feature the bands first new material in almost two decades, and the lead single feels like a blast from the past – with ferocious bass, searing guitars and, of course, lead singer Sir Mick Jagger’s eccentric character, which shines through his vocals.

Tendai – Tried To Fly

Rising London-born singer Tendai has been making waves in the capital’s music scene as of late, even nabbing a guest appearance on Stormzy’s This Is What I Mean album, released last year. His new single, sweetly penned about his niece learning to walk, is a fusion of Afrobeats and R&B, showcases the melodic sounds that Tendai has become known for.

Nicki Minaj – Last Time I Saw You

It really is a Barbie World for superstar rapper Nicki Minaj, following up her fast-paced Ice Spice collaboration from Greta Gerwig’s blockbuster Barbie. This time, though, Minaj slows it down, releasing a sentimental pop ballad – with Minaj actually singing her way through most of the reflective love record, with an impressive vocal performance, “Maybe I pushed you away because I thought that I’d bore you”, she belts.

Timbaland – Keep Going Up (feat. Justin Timberlake & Nelly Furtado)

For anyone who grew up on Noughties pop, there’s something endearing about pioneering producer Timbaland linking up with long-time collaborators Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado for a banger high on nostalgia factor. The trio last came together on their 2007 UK chart topper Give It To Me, and with their new track, Timbaland’s signature bass-driven beatbox-style production is back in full force. The results are just as good.

Kylie Minogue – Tension

Pop royalty Kylie Minogue has mastered the formula of infectious dance-pop tracks over decades, and with her latest release, she continues the strong form of her viral hit Padam Padam. The Aussie singer’s new track is a sexy, infectious piano house floor-filler, channelling the nostalgic club sounds of the late Nineties and Noughties with the added bonus of Minogue’s ever-sassy delivery.

Dave & Tiakola – Special

Dave follows up his record-breaking chart-topping hit Sprinter with another collaboration, this time with popular French rapper Tiakola. The two trade lines in English, French and Yoruba on the hip-hop and afrobeats-infused banger, before taking a swipe at the French government to close the track.

Fred Roberts – Say

London-based Fred Roberts may only be on his second single release, but the Hertfordshire-born singer-songwriter sounds assured in his latest track, a dreamy synth-laced post break-up anthem, with Roberts spilling his relationship regrets over a pop/indie-rock sound that places him in the same company as his idol Troye Sivan.

Jorja Smith – Falling or flying

Jorja Smith’s Little Things was one of the dance records of the summer. This new single, though, slows the tempo down considerably -  a slick, funk-infused R&B record, with Smith’s vocals taking centre stage.

Måneskin – Honey (are you coming?)

Chart-topping Italian rock band Måneskin may have just released a full-length album this year, but the group show no signs of slowing down, releasing an electrifyingly sensual new single, with frontman Damiano David’s falsetto notes cutting through searing guitars and thumping drums.

Selena Gomez -Single Soon

Songs about imminent break-ups are usually pretty miserable affairs, but on Single Soon, Gomez is too busy picking out killer outfits, coming up with dumping excuses, and celebrating her impending freedom to shed a tear. It looks like a third album is still a way off, but in the meantime this synth-laden pop stomper will do quite nicely.

The Killers - Your Side of Town

According to the Vegas band, Your Side of Town is haunted by “the ghosts of a lot of synth music that inspired us over the years” – and sure enough, spacey Eighties spectres run riot through their new standalone single, produced by long-time collaborators Stuart Price (Madonna, Dua Lipa) and Shawn Everett (Adele, SZA)

Fat Dog - King of the Slugs

South London’s Fat Dog already have a fearsome reputation, thanks to their raucous shows at small venues like The Windmill. A year in, we finally have a debut single; a seven-minute, punk and rave-flecked psych epic dedicated to being crowned king by a gang of slimy subjects. It’s no wonder they’ve been snapped up by Domino Records.

Nyra - Happy Highs

A resident DJ at London’s queer party Adonis, Nyra has soundtracked many a night of hedonism with his warm and fuzzy disco house - and Happy Highs has already gone down a storm both there, and at Glastonbury’s beloved LGBTQ+ club the NYC Downlow this summer. Now, it’s got a proper release on his own record label Canoe.

Miley Cyrus - Used to be Young

In the music video for Used to be Young, a Mickey Mouse t-shirt peeps out from beneath Miley Cyrus’ sweater vest – much like the frank lyrics of this fairly straightforward pop ballad, it’s a nod to her journey from Hannah Montana to tattooed tearaway. Though she’s in an older, more mature place now, Cyrus insists that she wouldn’t change a thing. “Those wasted nights are not wasted,” she sings, “I remember every one.”

Conan Gray - Winner

US singer Conan Gray moved around a lot as a kid - 9 times, to be exact - as his dad was in the army. This instability seems to be the starting point for his latest bittersweet ballad Winner, which slowly builds to a campy, glam rock crescendo. ‘I was only tryin’ to survive your chaos,’ he snarls, ‘well, look at how it’s paid off’.
