'NCIS' Star Wilmer Valderrama Got Surprisingly Candid About His Future on the Show
Wilmer Valderrama is not planning on leaving NCIS any time soon — but he's definitely thought about it.
The actor is getting ready to start filming the drama's season 22, but ahead of going back to work, he spoke out about his future on NCIS. Per an article from People on June 22, Wilmer was in attendance at the 2024 Monte-Carlo Television Festival in Monaco, where he participated in a panel on June 14. When an audience member asked about how Wilmer thought his character, Agent Nick Torres, could potentially be killed off on the show, he had an explosive thought about it.
"Like Denzel Washington in Training Day — just go out," Valderrama said, referencing the 2001 film in which Denzel's character, Alonso Harris, died amid an attack of machine gunfire. "I think not being the bad guy [like Harris was], of course I'd like to die as a good guy. But defending my family somehow, just in a storm of bullets, I just see a storm of bullets just washing over me, just dying heroically with violins in the background and the rain is pouring."
As fans may remember, Wilmer first joined NCIS back in 2016, in the premiere episode of season 14. His character quickly became a hit amongst longtime viewers, with storylines that involved Nick going undercover in prison to disclosing heartbreaking moments about his family's past. He's also been vocal about how a strong bond with the cast has been a major part of what makes NCIS so great, as he explained to People back in April.
"We have a blast on set!" he said at the time. "The funny thing is that the darker the case, the funnier the set. We laugh our asses off. And it doesn’t hurt that the world comes along and enjoys it with us."
What's more, he's aware of how lucky he is to be a part of a legacy as big as NCIS, which he alluded to in an Instagram video ahead of the show's 1000th episode in April 2024.
"What a privilege to share the screen with all these amazing people, and a greater honor to be part of such an iconic legacy for #NCIS," he captioned the clip. "Thank you to everyone that laid a brick in such a monumental moment for the number 1 TV franchise in the world!"
