‘NCIS’ Star Wilmer Valderrama Speaks Out After the Show Makes a Major Announcement

Get ready, NCIS fans, because it looks like your favorite group of government agents will be back for another go-around!

Just two months after season 21 of the hit drama began airing new episodes on CBS, longtime viewers got a massive surprise from the network. In an official press release made on April 9, folks learned that the series got renewed for season 22, which will air during the 2024-2025 TV broadcast season.

Shortly after the news broke about the renewal, the show's social team celebrated the news on Instagram. "I don’t know about you, but we’re feeling 2️⃣2️⃣ 🎉," read the official caption. "#NCIS has been renewed for a 22nd season, coming to you shortly... 🙏🙏🙏."

Fans also immediately expressed their thrill over it in the comments.

"THE MOMENT WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR!! ❤❤👏," one person rejoiced. "Congratulations!!!!!!! I'm so Happy ❤️," another replied. "Can’t stop, won’t stop! 🔥🙌," a different viewer added.

While viewers are ecstatic about NCIS coming back for another season, they aren't the only ones. Wilmer Valderrama (who portrays SSA Nick Torres), went on Instagram the same day to express his gratitude over the prospect of coming back to TV for another year.

"#NCIS We are beyond honored that you continue to invite us into your living rooms!" he emotionally penned alongside a cast group photo. "Season 22 officially a GO! And thanks to you all our incredible fans from around the WORLD! To our crew and cast, we get to dance together again! CBS and CBS Studios here’s to more bad guy catching!"

Along with the original series, the spinoff NCIS: Origins (following the early days of Leroy Jethro Gibbs, played by Mark Harmon and incoming actor Austin Stowell) will air around the same time, along with the spinoff featuring Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) and Ziva David (Cote de Pablo).
