Canada's top court was adjudicating on the case challenging a 2020 decision by a Quebec court to lower Alexandre Bissonnette's parole eligibility to 25 years from the original sentence that required him to wait much longer for the possibility of parole. The Supreme Court said that such a punishment removes a realistic possibility of parole and called it "incompatible with human dignity."
