On Tuesday, the actor, 59, suited up for a special screening of his latest film, Dream Scenario, at Beyond Fest Film Festival.

He paired the pants with a black moto leather jacket that had matching gold zippers, as well as patches with different embroidery — including a print of an oversized safety pin, a patch with “THRASH” on the right side of his torso with an image of a hand with the middle finger lifted. The jacket’s hem was emphasized by an oversized belt with a gold belt buckle as the garment’s closing clasp.

Cage completed the look with crocodile-patterned leather shoes and oversized orange sunglasses with a gold metal frame.

Cage surprised the audience of Beyond Fest in Los Angeles earlier this week when he dropped in to join Dream Scenario’s writer-director, Kristoffer Borgli, for a special Q&A session.

Cage’s latest film, which he co-produced, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in early September. The surreal comedy stars  Julianne Nicholson, Michael Cera, Tim Meadows, Dylan Gelula, Dylan Baker, and the veteran actor as the film’s lead, Paul Matthews.

Dream Scenario follows Paul, a college professor, whose life “turns upside down when millions of strangers suddenly start seeing him in their dreams,” per the official synopsis. “But when his nighttime appearances take a nightmarish turn, Paul is forced to navigate his newfound stardom.”

Following the premiere, Cage spoke with PEOPLE, and shared which recurring figure he looks forward to seeing in his own dreams: his late dad, August Coppola.

“I always like it when my father shows up,” he said at the event on Sept. 9. “I haven't seen him in person since he passed on. So when he shows up, that's always a good thing.”

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent star’s father, August Coppola, whose younger brother is The Godfather trilogy director Francis Ford Coppola, died from a heart attack at age 75 in 2009, according to his obituary.

After Cage’s father died, the Reinfeld star named his daughter, August Francesca Coppola, 1, after his late father. At TIFF, Cage shared with PEOPLE, that the day before the premiere he had celebrated his daughter’s first birthday, and he previously revealed to PEOPLE that August sported  "a Supergirl cape" to celebrate her birthday.

August Francesca’s latest venture into superheroes follows her father’s recent cameo as Superman in The Flash.

The Flash actor made a brief appearance in the latest DC Comics film, after working with director Tim Burton throughout the ‘90s on Superman Lives, which was ultimately scrapped, leaving Cage to hang up Superman’s cape in 1998.

As for reviving his never-before-seen role as the Man of Steel, Cage joked with USA Today, "Well, I was glad I didn’t blink," after noting how quick his cameo was. "For me, it was the feeling of being actualized. Even that look for that particular character, finally seeing it on screen, was satisfying. But as I said, it’s quick," he added.
