Nicole Morin, missing for 30 years, honoured with Etobicoke run, vigil

A community run and vigil is being Wednesday night in Etobicoke in honour of Nicole Morin, the little girl who went missing 30 years ago.

Morin was eight years old when she disappeared on July 30, 1985, after leaving her Etobicoke apartment building to meet a friend. Toronto police, who organized tonight's event, are hoping it could lead to more tips in the case, which has never been closed.

Earlier this year, Morin's father, Art Morin, opened up to CBC News about the search for his daughter. While he is coming to terms with the fact that his daughter may never be found, he still lives in the same area in case she returns.

In recent years, a police re-enactment as well as several other public appeals have generated some tips. Last fall, police searched a wooded area near Springwater Township in connection with the case.

Det.-Sgt. Madelaine Tretter said while Nicole's disappearance is a "mystery," the investigation is ongoing.

"When you look at that face and eyes, doesn't matter how many years go by, we're never going to stop looking," she said.
