No. 1-ranked Calgary Dinos blowout Saskatchewan Huskies 59-19

The No. 8-ranked University of Saskatchewan Huskies got off to a great start, but they were no match for the top university football team in Canada.

The Huskies dropped to 2-3 on Saturday following a 59-19 loss on the road to the No. 1-ranked University of Calgary Dinos. Calgary improved to 5-0.

Things looked good for the U of S in the first quarter. Fourth-year quarterback Drew Burko and receiver MitchHillis opened the scoring with a 78-yard touchdown pass in the first few minute of the game.

Burko and the Huskies held a 10-3 lead with 10 minutes left in the second quarter.

Following three second-quarter field goals by Calgary kicker Johnny Mark and a one yard touchdown by Jimmy Underdahl, the Dinos went into half with a 20-10 lead.

But the Huskies clawed back, narrowing the lead to 20-18 following a 35-yard touchdown pass from Burko to fifth-year receiver John Trumpy.

That's when the wheels came off for Saskatchewan.

Calgary quarterback Andrew Buckley flipped the switch and showed why he's considered Canada's top university player this season.

Buckley passed for four second half touchdowns, including a 105-yard strike to receiver Austen Hartley. Buckley finished the game with 468 yards passing, four touchdowns and no interceptions.

The fifth-year pivot from Calgary has not thrown an interception all season, while adding 12 touchdown passes.

Burko passed for 314 yards — the fourth time in five games he has recorded a 300-plus-yard game — but was also intercepted three times.

Hillis continues to impress

One positive for the Huskies was the continuing excellent play of third-year receiver Mitch Hillis. The Saskatoon-native recorded his fourth-straight 100-plus-yard game, hauling in five passes for 145 yards and a touchdown.

Hillis looks like he will be on several CFL scout's radar as he currently sits third in Canada in receiving yards with 684 in five games.

Saskatchewan will have a shot at revenge soon. Both teams will have a week off for Thanksgiving, but will play again on Oct. 16 in Saskatoon.

The Dinos look unstoppable so far this season. Calgary has now outscored their opponents 211-45 on the past three games.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CST at Griffiths Stadium.
