No bond for Beaufort man jailed after July 4th gunfire at apartment; 2 others charged

Beaufort resident Jovonn Raheem Pryor, 23, has been arrested and denied bond in connection with gunfire that struck one person at an apartment complex on the Fourth of July.

Pryor was charged Monday afternoon with attempted murder, aggravated breach of peace and a pair of weapon violations. He remained in custody at the Beaufort County Detention Center as of Tuesday afternoon, jail records show.

Police responded to a report of gunfire around 7:15 p.m. Thursday at the Ashley Point Apartments, located off Boundary Street behind the Hilton Garden Inn. One person with a single gunshot wound was rushed to Beaufort Memorial Hospital, according to call logs from the Beaufort Police Department.

Two others — 21-year-old Beaufort man Jayshawn Wright and an underage girl who was not identified — were charged for interfering with Pryor’s apprehension on Monday. Both were also cited for resisting arrest.

Booking records show Pryor and Wright live in the same unit at the Ashley Point Apartments.

The gunshot victim remained in stable condition as of Tuesday afternoon, Beaufort police said.

The Ashley Point Apartments are located at 2112 Carolina Wren Drive, behind the Beaufort Town Center strip mall.
