Off-duty BSO deputy killed in a motorcycle crash on the Fourth of July

An off-duty Broward Sheriff’s Office deputy died in a motorcycle crash in Sunrise on the Fourth of July.

“Our hearts are with his family during this devastating moment. It is our prayer his family finds comfort in the loving memories of Anthony and the difference he made in his young life,” BSO said in a statement. “We mourn his loss but remember his life.”

The International Union of Police Associations announced on Instagram that Anthony Zahorovsky, 27, was killed in the accident.

“Anthony’s loss is deeply felt by all of us,” the IUPA said in a statement on social media. “As a colleague, friend, and family member, he touched many lives.”

CBS News Miami reported that the crash happened right before 12:20 p.m. in the area of North Pine Island Road at Northwest 44th Street.

“He was an amazing guy and he loved what he was doing,” Andres Muneton, Zahorosvky’s cousin, told the station. “He was amazing as a father.”
