New NEW office opens in Sioux Lookout

SIOUX LOOKOUT – Northwest Employment Works (NEW) has opened a new office at Confederation College’s Sioux Lookout campus.

Supported by Employment Ontario, NEW’s Sioux Lookout office provides comprehensive employment services to students, job seekers and employers in the area.

The office has experienced “a steady stream of inquiries about our services” since opening in early April, manager Brad Mesich said Wednesday.

The range of services includes career counselling, job search assistance, and training opportunities.

Mesich said the NEW office is poised to become a central hub for employment support in the Sioux Lookout area.

“This effort is a testament to the dedication of many, including the invaluable contributions of Sioux-Hudson Employment Services, whose hard work and dedication from 1982 until earlier this year have laid a strong foundation for employment services in our community,” he said.

“We are grateful for their legacy, and we’re excited to build upon it.”

Confederation College has similar NEW offices in Thunder Bay, Dryden and Marathon.

“Our government is focused on delivering the highest quality employment and training services for the people of Ontario and this office is a step in ensuring job seekers, businesses and communities receive the services they need,” David Piccini, the province’s labour minister, said in a news release from the college.
