Former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden faced off on Thursday night during the first presidential debate of the 2024 race for the White House.

The CNN Presidential Debate marks the first time the two men had formally sparred since the 2020 election when Americans ultimately selected Biden over Trump. But the question of age has loomed large over both candidates.

Biden is the oldest American president at 81, and assumed office at age 78.

Trump was born on June 14, 1946, and is now 78 years old. If he is reelected, he will be the second-oldest president and will be the same age as Biden was when he was inaugurated.

The CNN Presidential Debate ends at 10:30 ET and can be watched on CNN and live-streamed on USA TODAY’s YouTube channel.

Trump campaign memo signals plans to reduce the national GOP platform
Donald Trump's top advisers are planning to overhaul and shorten the Republican Party's platform so that it will be "in line" with the former president's "vision for America's future," according to a memo sent to the party's platform committee that was obtained by ABC News. The memo comes as some more socially conservative RNC members -- along with some anti-abortion groups -- have expressed concern that the platform this cycle might adopt Trump's stance on reproductive rights, which would lift the call for a 20-week federal abortion ban that is part of the current platform's language. Five Indian soldiers were killed when a military tank they were travelling in sank while crossing a river in the remote region of Ladakh that borders China, officials said Saturday. The tank sank early Saturday due to sudden increase in the water levels of Shyok River during a military training activity, according to an Indian army command center statement. It said the accident took place in Saser Brangsa near the Line of Actual Control that divides India and China in the Ladakh region.
