Suspect arrested in shooting at MS Coast gas station, victim critical, Gulfport police say
The Gulfport Police Department announced the arrest of Khalil Jakeith Vickers, 28, in connection with a shooting Friday afternoon at a RaceWay gas station in Gulfport.
Police responded to the call around 4:40 p.m. at the RaceWay gas station on U.S. 49, Ducre said.
According to Ducre, once on the scene, officers found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers learned that the victim and Vickers got into a verbal altercation that turned physical. Vickers shot the victim multiple times, continuing to shoot at him as he attempted to get away, before fleeing the scene.
Vickers was later located and arrested without incident. The victim was transported to a local area hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
Vickers was taken to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center to be held in lieu of his $250,000 bond set by Judge Nick Patano.
