Ottawa chef wins gold at Canadian Culinary Championships
An Ottawa chef has become the first two-time winner of a prestigious national culinary competition.
Marc Lepine, the head chef at Atelier, won gold Saturday night at the Canadian Culinary Championships in Kelowna, B.C.
Lepine beat 10 other chefs with a dish of smoked steelhead trout with a miso-molasses glaze, cured pork belly, barley and corn porridge and corn cob broth.
"The competition was fierce and I was only able to do this with my team. My sous chef should be standing here next to me as this truly takes a team," said Lepine after he won, according to a media release.
Lepine previously won gold in 2012.
