Paradise industrial area to get recreation stores

Kenmount Road in Paradise near Bremigans Pond is marked for the site of a number of new businesses including a ball hockey rink and a fishing gear store.

Deputy Mayor Kimberley Street brought forth the motions to council last week the approve the two applications, which both passed muster with council.

A notice of discretionary use for both businesses was advertised with no objections being received.

The ball hockey rink will be installed within the building at 1259 Kenmount Road, sharing the facility with PBS Services Ltd., a truck and trailer repair shop. Modifications to the building will be made to accommodate the businesses, but councillor Larry Vaters wondered how fumes from the repair shop will be prevented from leaking over into the rink.

Street said approvals from Service NL regarding fire and safety protocols will be necessary before moving forward.

The fishing store is set to open at 1266 Kenmount Road.
