Paradise scores savings on soccer nets purchase

The Town of Paradise is saving a few thousand dollars on four new soccer nets after the winning bid came in well under the Town’s previously allocated budget of $26,000.

The Town received bids from four companies with the winning bid coming from Sportscraft at $18,331. Merchants, Centaur, and Coastline had also submitted bids at $19,534, $20,004, and $23,972 respectively.

Changes in the Newfoundland and Labrador Soccer Association’s regulations for the U13 provincial league required the use of 21’ x7’ foot nets for that age division.

In the most recent council meeting, Councillor Glen Carew said the Paradise Youth Soccer Association relayed this information to the Town and requested new nets to align with the regulation.

Carew said the purchase aligns with the Town’s social and cultural health goals, which are to foster an inclusive community by ensuring all services are welcoming and available to all.
