Part of trail to close during bridge repairs

A section of the Trans Canada Trail will be temporarily closed this summer as construction crews work to repair a Highway 11-17 bridge on Thunder Bay's outskirts.
Work on the 56-year-old Current River Bridge east of Hodder Avenue is to begin "shortly" and will be completed sometime this fall, a Ministry of Transportation (MTO) notice said this week.
The $2.5-million project, to be overseen by Rosslyn's KA Vanderzwaag Construction Inc., will close the trail between June 15 and Aug. 21. the MTO notice said.
During construction, traffic on the bridge is to be reduced to one lane and the maximum speed is to be 70 km/h.
