Party Boat Crash In Egypt Kills At Least 15

At least 15 people have died after their party boat collided with a cargo ship on the River Nile near Cairo.

According to Egypt's Interior Ministry, the passenger boat sank soon after the crash on Wednesday night.

It is believed several people are still missing - but an operation to find them in the hours after the crash was hampered by darkness.

The captain of the cargo ship, who survived, has been arrested.

Traffic along the Nile has been busier than usual, with Egyptians hiring party boats in their droves to celebrate the feast which follows the holy month of Ramadan.

Although boating collisions are frequent along Egypt's coast, this is the deadliest accident in the region since February 2006, when more than 1,000 people were killed after a passenger ferry sank.
