Shooter fires at North Miami Beach police SUV outside of Jewish center, cops say
A man shot at a police SUV parked outside a North Miami Beach Jewish center early Wednesday morning, authorities say.
Evan Polinski, 36, police say, “brazenly attacked” a North Miami Beach officer inside his vehicle at 1:53 a.m. near the Kabbalah Centre, 2725 NE 163rd St. More than one shot was fired.
Minutes later, police added the shooter drove away before crashing with another car at Northwest First Avenue and 167th Street, just east of the Golden Glades Interchange.
Polinski was taken to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. No officer was injured.
At this time, investigators believe that the shooting was an isolated incident — and that there’s no threat to the Jewish community.
“This incident underscores the unpredictable and dangers conditions our law enforcement officers face daily,” the department said in a statement Wednesday evening. “...The success of this incident is a testament to their courage and the seamless cooperation of everyone involved in this dangerous incident.”
NMBPD is on scene where shots were fired at an officer’s vehicle in the area of NE 27 Ave/NE 163 ST. Subject fled the area at a high rate of speed. Minutes later, there was a 2 vehicle crash (NW 1 Ave/NW 167 ST)where one of drivers matched the description of the fleeing subject.

Miami Herald news partner CBS News Miami footage showed a North Miami Beach police SUV with a flat tire being towed and a white sedan with front-end damage.
