Human-like robot unveiled in Japan

Starting in February, Japanese mobile phone company Softbank will sell a robot named Pepper for 198,000 yen ($1,900). Softbank's billionaire owner, Masayoshi Son, told a crowd at the unveiling that his longtime dream was to go into the personal robot business. Son said Pepper has been programmed to read the emotions of people around it by recognizing expressions and voice tones. (AP)
