A Cape Breton, N.S., man has been sentenced for killing his former girlfriend and leaving their seven-month-old daughters to fend for themselves for three days alone in a crib. Dwight Austin Isadore was handed a 14-year prison term after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the death of Cassidy Jean Bernard and abandoning her twin girls. A man was rushed to hospital in critical condition Tuesday afternoon following a shooting on Banff Avenue in south Ottawa, first responders say.
