Piccadilly teen charged with impaired driving

Bay St. George South break-ins have people nervous

An underage drinker on the Port au Port Peninsula was arrested for impaired driving, after a single-vehicle accident resulted in minor injuries.

Bay St. George RCMP were called out around 3:30 a.m. Sunday in Cape St. George, where officers discovered a car on its side in the middle of the road.

When police arrived at the accident scene, the driver, an 18 year-old male from Piccadilly, and his passenger, a young woman, had already been transported to hospital in Stephenville.

The vehicle was towed, and the accused was arrested for impaired driving.

Police said he was also issued a driving suspension and was held in custody until sober.

The teen is scheduled for a court appearance in February.

Driving conditions were said to be poor at the time of the accident.
