Pitcher Justin Germano joins Jays on minor league deal

His 2012 pitching performance certainly won’t be confused with that of aces Zack Greinke, Anibal Sanchez or Kyle Lohse.

But Justin Germano has found a fan early in the major league free-agent season in the Toronto Blue Jays, who announced the signing of the former Chicago Cubs right-hander to a minor league contract Friday.

The 30-year-old also received an invited to Jays’ spring training in late February.

Germano posted a 2-10 record and 6.20 earned-run average over 12 starts with the Cubs and one relief appearance for Boston this past season.

In 93 career games in the majors including 48 starts, he is 10-30 with a 5.27 ERA.

Germano also has pitched for San Diego, Cincinnati and Cleveland.
