Calgary police say they've arrested a man wanted in connection to a stabbing death in the city's downtown on June 30th.

A warrant was issued on July 23 for Antoine Joel Gros Ventre Boy, suspected of stabbing Paul March after he intervened in an altercation.

Police say the suspect was located on Sunday in downtown Calgary and has been charged with second-degree murder.

It's alleged March heard a fight between a man and a woman in James Short Park on June 30th and that he confronted the suspect after hearing the woman tell the man to stop hitting her.

It's believed the suspect then pulled out a knife and threatened March, who turned to run and tripped.

The suspect then allegedly caught up to March and stabbed him. March was taken to hospital and died on July 3.

Gros Ventre Boy is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 16.
