Police ID man found dead in Scarborough apartment

Toronto police have identified a man found dead in a Scarborough apartment this week in an incident now considered to be a homicide.

Mohamed "Mo" Abdalla Mohamed, 40, of Toronto, was found on Wednesday with signs of trauma to his body in a residential unit in the area of Lawrence Avenue East and Morningside Road. He was also known as Mohamed Awad, police say.

Police were called to the unit for a report of a medical complaint at about 11:20 a.m.

No suspect description has been released.

Mohamed is the city's 23rd homicide victim of the year.

Police have released an image of the victim and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
