Police say Kuujjuaq incident was attempted stabbing

Police say an altercation and attempted stabbing outside a store in Kuujjuaq has led to one person being arrested.

According to Nunavik Police Service deputy Chief Jean-François Morin, the incident started inside the Northern store at about 12:50 p.m. Wednesday.

Morin said it’s believed one of the individuals waited for the other to come outside, where he attempted to stab that person.

A suspect was arrested, and will appear in court Thursday by phone.

Police did not release the name of the suspect or say what charge he faces, and did not say if the intended victim was injured.
