Police have not yet been able to interview Bushey triple murder suspect Kyle Clifford, who remains in hospital after being arrested over the crossbow killings of a mother and two daughters.

Detectives are waiting to be told that Clifford, 26, is well enough to be spoken to before he can be quizzed about the murders of Carol Hunt and her two daughters Hannah, 28 and Louise, 25.

Hertfordshire Police arrested Clifford on suspicion of three counts of murder on Thursday and he remains in a serious condition in hospital.

Carol, 61, the wife of BBC 5 Live commentator John Hunt, along with Hannah, 28, and Louise, 25, were found fatally injured at a house in the quiet cul-de-sac of Ashlyn Close in Bushey, Hertfordshire, just after 7pm on Tuesday.

Det Supt Rob Hall, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said on Friday: “Our thoughts remain with the victims’ family at this tragic time. The investigation is moving at pace and as a result, we have now arrested a man. Enquiries are continuing at this time.”

Here is what we know - and don't know - about the suspect and the incident.

Hertfordshire Police was called to the property in Bushey just before 7pm on Tuesday.

The three women were found with serious injuries and despite the efforts of paramedics, died at the scene a short time later.

A manhunt was subsequently launched and shortly after 8.30am on Wednesday, police published Kyle Clifford's name, age and photograph.

Ch Supt John Simpson, from Hertfordshire Police, said in a press conference on Wednesday that a crossbow was used in the incident but that other weapons may have been used.

Armed police also searched a home in Rendlesham Road, Enfield, north London, that morning.

The hunt for Clifford eventually switched to focus on a cemetery in the Hilly Fields area of Enfield on Wednesday afternoon. Emergency services, including armed police, could be seen in the area in footage posted on social media.

Clifford was then found with injuries in Lavender Hill Cemetery. Footage from Sky News appeared to show Clifford, who served a short period in the British Army, being stretchered out of the cemetery by paramedics. He was taken to a major trauma centre for treatment.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct said it received a mandatory referral from the Metropolitan Police after Clifford was found by officers with serious injuries in Enfield, but was satisfied no probe was needed.

As part of the investigation on Thursday, police raided a house linked to Clifford's brother, Bradley. He was jailed for life with a minimum term of 23 years for the murder of moped passenger Soban Khan in 2018.

According to the Metropolitan Police at the time of the killing, Bradley Clifford had targeted the moped before crashing into it and continuing to assault Khan after the collision.

On Friday morning, Hertfordshire Police confirmed Kyle Clifford had been arrested the previous night.

Details about the incident remain scarce and it is not known the exact circumstances that led to the women’s deaths.

Police said a crossbow was used and indicated other weapons may have been involved, but that has not been confirmed.

It is not clear how long the attacker was in the victims' house and the extent of the attack. Police are said to be investigating whether the three victims were held captive for hours.

According to The Guardian, Mrs Hunt was found with crossbow injuries in the hallway of the house. It also reported sources saying one of the victims dialled 999, but that has also not been confirmed by police.
