Police in St. John's say masked intruders burst into a home on Cowan Avenue on Friday and shot at residents of the house.

One man is reportedly in hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Police say the attack is believed to be targeted. The house — a large suburban home that sold for $669,000 in 2019 — is frequently visited by police, according to a resident in the area.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says two people forced their way into the home with weapons. No physical description was provided, since both people were wearing masks.

Police say the incident happened before midnight Friday, and they are looking for any video footage from the area between 11:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m.
