A 54-year-old man faces multiple charges after an incident at the provincial building on Prince Street in Sydney, N.S., Tuesday morning.

In a news release, Cape Breton Regional Police said they were called to the building at around 8:40 a.m. and found a man holding a knife alone in a room on the second floor.

Other people were evacuated from the second floor to ensure they were safe, the release said.

Police said they were able to convince the man to hand over the knife and he was arrested without any problems.

The man faces several charges, including possession of a weapon, two counts of uttering threats, and assault.

An earlier news release said no one was injured.
