Shannon Madill, missing Calgarian, sought by police

Calgary police are asking for help from the public in locating a young woman who has been missing since last month.

Shannon Madill (Burgess), 25, has not been seen since Nov. 27 at her home in the 1900 block of Spiller Road S.E.

She was reported missing on Dec. 1 after failing to show up for a family event the day before. Police say there are no indications of foul play, but her disappearance is out of character.

"All we want is, that wherever she is, that if she's with somebody that they reach out to either us or the family," said Staff Sgt. Travis Baker. "She's not in any trouble with us at all and if she decides that that's what she wants, we're happy to step down and back away but we want to know where she is and that she's safe."

Baker says her cellphone and car were left behind.

'We miss you so much'

Her family says they are staying optimistic. Her sister Erin Madill says it is out of character for Shannon not to be in touch with family and friends.

"We all love you and we miss you so much," she said. "We don't need to know where you are. We just want to know that you are safe. If you see this, please, please just contact the police and just let us know that you're OK."

The family has put up posters around Inglewood where her last financial transactions were made.

Burgess has red hair, green eyes and wears glasses. She is five feet six inches tall and weighs about 130 pounds.

She frequently travels to Edmonton to visit friends and for work as a performance artist and stand-up comedian.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers.
