Halifax Regional Police say they were called to an apartment building on Carrington Place in Clayton Park around 6:30 a.m. after reports of a disturbance between a man and woman who knew each other.

The Nova Scotia Serious Incident Response Team said in a news release that police noticed the man was on the balcony when they entered the apartment.

The release said he went over the balcony, falling to the ground below, a short time later.

Police tried to help the man, but he died at the scene.
