Poll: Which Broward high school athlete should be the Miami Herald’s Player of the Week? (March 31)

Broward County’s best continue to shine as we move past spring break and into April.

This week, we continue a weekly feature where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week in Broward County high school sports.

Below is a look at the five candidates from last week’s action. Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, April 5, around 10 p.m.

Here are the candidates from last week’s events:

Colin Cartagena, Westminster Academy, baseball: Cartagena struck out nine in a complete game win over Nova.

Mateo Gray, North Broward Prep, baseball: Gray atruck out nine and allowed only one run on two hits in a 5-1 win over American Heritage.

Zach Beyra, Western, baseball: Beyra had a combined five hits and seven RBI to lead the Wildcats to wins over Killian, Melbourne and True North. He also struck out six over 4 ⅔ hitless innings against Melbourne.

Javier Miranda, Taravella, baseball: Miranda tossed a two-hitter, striking out four to lead the Trojans to a 3-0 win over Orlando Olympia.
