Pool closes temporarily after act of vandalism

The city of Charlottetown had to temporarily close the Simmons pool Monday because of some vandalism.

City officials said when pool staff came to work Monday morning they found clothing, gravel and another substance in the pool that had caused the water to become murky.

They said the substance had dissolved but could possibly have been feces.

They said the debris was thrown into the pool late Sunday night or early Monday morning.

The pool was super chlorinated and closed for 12 hours.

It will reopen September 1, with regular hours.

The pool will close for the season on Friday.
