Porn star Ron Jeremy charged with rape
One of the most recognizable names in the pornography industry was charged with multiple counts of rape on Tuesday (June 23).
Prosecutors say adult film star Ron Jeremy was charged with raping three women and sexually assaulting a fourth - between 2014 and 2019.
Jeremy has appeared in more than 2,000 adult films since the 1970s.
According to a statement from Los Angeles County District, Jeremy forcibly raped a 25-year-old woman at a home in West Hollywood in May 2014; in 2017 he sexually assaulted two women and on separate occasions forcibly raped one at a West Hollywood bar.
In a fourth incident, prosecutors said Jeremy raped a 30-year-old woman at the same bar in July 2019.
Jeremy did not enter a plea when he made his first court appearance in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday.
Prosecutors recommended bail be set at $6.6 million and he will be formally arraigned on Thursday.
If convicted of all the charges, Jeremy faces up to 90 years in prison.
When Rolling Stone magazine reported allegations of sexual misconduct by Jeremy in 2017, he told the magazine he had quote "never and would never rape anyone."
A representative for Jeremy did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
