Portion of Illinois Route 111 closing for repairs in Madison County

The Illinois Department for Transportation announced that Illinois Route 111 — between New Poag Road, East Hawthorne Street and Madison Avenue — in the South Roxana area will be closed for repairs beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, July 8.

The announcement said the repairs are for a flood wall and bridge along the route. Repairs are expected to be finished in mid-September.

Suggested detour routes are as follows:

If you’re trying to go north on Illinois Route 111, go east on Interstate 270, then north on Illinois Route 255, then west on Madison Avenue, then you can use Illinois Route 111 again.

If you’re trying to go south on Illinois Route 111, go east on Madison Avenue, then south on Illinois Route 255, then west on Interstate 270, then you can use Illinois Route 111 again.

This road closure will be occurring at the same time as a road closure near Albers, Illinois, in Clinton County.
