Premier's driver pleads guilty to impaired driving
A special assistant and driver for P.E.I. Premier Robert Ghiz was sentenced to one day in jail after pleading guilty to impaired driving.
The Crown said 23-year-old Jamie MacPhail blew twice the legal limit in two breathalyzers, both showing a blood alcohol level of 1.6.
In addition to serving one day in jail, MacPhail was fined $1,000 and is prohibited from driving for a year.
He was not working at the time of the incident.
An official with the Premier's office has said the Argyle Shore man is on a leave of absence until this matter is settled.
