When are Premium Bonds drawn as Cumbria and Hertfordshire win big?

In the July draw, two holders of Premium Bonds in Cumbria and Hertfordshire became millionaires thanks to National Savings & Investments (NS&I).

The first Hertfordshire winner, who owns £50,000-worth of Premium Bonds, drew Premium Bond number 286HQ028274. The bond was bought in November 2016.

The Cumbrian winner also now owns £50,000-worth of Premium Bonds, and their bond was bought in October 2021, with winning number 474HX772350.

In addition to the two winners of £1 million, 87 holders received £100,000 and 157 won £50,000.

What are Premium Bonds?

Premium Bonds are investments offered by NS&I that were introduced in 1956.In addition to offering the possibility of winning between £25 and £1 million in tax-free cash each month through the monthly prize draw, Premium Bonds can help you earn interest or a consistent dividend income.

There are only two winners of £1 million each month, with other rewards including sums of £100,000 or £100.

Many people use Premium Bonds accounts to save money and increase their chances of winning.

When are Premium Bonds drawn?

Premium Bond prizes are picked at the beginning of each month, usually on the first day, unless it falls on a weekend or bank holiday.The prize draw will take place on the following available day if the first of the month falls on a weekend with bank holidays.

How to check if you have won

You can use the NS&I website to check your account. Every month, prize draws are held with rewards totalling up to £1,000,000.

You must get your holder's details and visit the prize checker to see if you have ever won a Premium Bonds award.Your bond record or the app will have your holder's number, which you will require.Additionally, you can use your NS&I number, which can be found on any correspondence pertaining to your bonds.
