Prince Harry reportedly had an emotional phone call with ex-girlfriend Chelsy Davy in the week leading up to his marriage to Meghan Markle.

According to Vanity Fair, it was hit and miss whether the 32-year-old would even accept her invitation to St. George’s Chapel, but soon decided that they had too much shared history to bail on the event.

"It was their final call, a parting call in which they both acknowledged Harry was moving on. Chelsy was quite emotional about it all, she was in tears and almost didn’t go to the wedding," an insider said.

The same source claims that neither she nor Cressida Bonas were invited to the private evening reception at Frogmore House: "In the end, she went and promised Harry she wouldn’t try and gatecrash the party."

The couple dated on-and-off for seven years but officially called time on their romance back in 2010. At the time, Chelsy insisted they would remain “good friends” but hinted that the media intrusion into their romance was too much to handle.

“It was so full-on: crazy and scary and uncomfortable. I found it very difficult when it was bad. I couldn't cope," she told The Daily Mail. "I was trying to be a normal kid and it was horrible."

It seems there were no hard feelings on the big day itself, with The Mirror reporting that Chelsy *did* manage to find her way into the evening reception after all and was apparently “all smiles and hugs” when she crossed paths with Meghan.
