How Prince Harry and Prince William Reportedly Feel About The Crown ’s New Diana Season

Everyone is talking about The Crown’s new season which heavily features Princess Diana. But how do Prince Harry and Prince William feel about it?

Well, they’re not watching, according to Vanity Fair. The magazine reports that while it’s believed the brothers have watched previous seasons of The Crown, they won’t be tuning in this time around.

For obvious reasons, of course. “The feeling is that the latest series would actually be quite sad for them to watch,” a “well-placed” source told VF.

H and W can’t fully escape the show, though. “Harry has seen the trailers for series four, but I can’t see him watching it,” a source close to the Duke of Sussex said to VF. Prince William, meanwhile, has “no desire” to watch, per that same source. (The show features a baby Prince William.)

It’s important to remember that The Crown is a drama and should not be seen as an absolute version of the truth. That’s something Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla are reportedly worried about. A source also  told Vanity Fair, “Many royal historians and experts have dismissed it as fiction, but Netflix is playing a dangerous game. They’re making money out of characterizing people who work hard for the nation. If people are using the series as a textbook for royal history, that’s troublesome. Netflix has a duty to be upfront about its programming, and the producers should be more honest about what is fact and what is fiction. It’s not the first drama about a difficult chapter, but a bit more honesty on the program makers’ part about it being a drama wouldn’t go amiss.”

That being said, a “friend” of Duchess Camilla’s told VF they imagine “she’ll be tuning in with a glass of red wine to watch it.” “[Camilla] has seen the previous series,” they added. “She has a wonderful sense of humor and this won’t fuss her in the slightest.”

If Prince Harry and Prince William aren’t going to watch The Crown on Netflix, they have plenty of other streaming options. Maybe a seasonal rom-com to keep things light and happy?
